I am pleased to announce the winner of this months Elmo Award for 2009....

Octomom! She had six kids, then added eight more by design without a coherent plan as to how to support them all. While she was planning this robust family, her and her own mother were already struggling to pay the bills and were getting behind on the mortgage. She states she has always wanted to be a mother, but apparently she forgot a very important quality that most often, or at least should, come before parenthood...responsibility.
No responsible adult would bring one child into this world, let alone fourteen if they had no way to support them adequately throughout their life. And here is a reality check - I'm not sure about the state she lives in, but here in our state, government assistance/medicaid will not take into account the sheer number of kids in the household, rather they will focus more specifically on their financial income. In other words, the assistance provided by the state (via tax payers) will not come close to the extraordinary amount of money needed to raise this number of kids.

So congratulations Nadya! You are this months recipient of the prestigious Elmo Award. Also, no worries needed because here in Steve's World we don't expect winners to make acceptance speeches, so there won't be any awkward moments like we have seen on those popular morning shows.

A small consolation prize for those House and Senate politicians that voted for the Stimulus Bill. Since the Elmo's award people for outstanding feats of selfishness with a "me-first" attitude, you guys come in a close second this month. Never fear...you still have the entire year to earn a spot on the list. We will be watching.

Can't wait to see who will walk away with March's prize!!!
