Steve's World continues its mission to educate the millions, maybe dozens (probably a hand full) or viewers weekly by bringing the first installment of Steve's Health Alert. I hope to keep viewers on top of current trends, studies, and happenings in the area of Healthcare - a field close to my heart.

Today's topic...Women's Health as it relates to cancer. A recent Oxford University study was released that followed nearly 1.3 million women between the ages of 50-64 to determine the relationship (if any) to alcohol consumption and cancer. Smaller studies have been completed on the same topic, however this the first one to look beyond solely breast cancer and alcohol consumption as a possible contributing factor.

The study found that irregardless the type of alcohol consumed, even one drink per day can greatly increase the risk of breast, liver, and rectal cancers. Although the researchers are still not clear 'how' alcohol increases the risk of cancer, the study finds a concerning link between the two. This past week a well known morning show ran this story with one of the hosts commenting (and I paraphrase) 'Now that the statistics are in, what should women do?'

Health Alert Advise: Stop drinking.

I hope this information/advise was informative and if it was please leave a comment. If you didn't find it helpful, your more than welcome to comment also. Thank you.

(some things should be so obvious - by the way, smoking is bad for you too)
